I am not usually one to only read one book at a time. For different reasons really. Maybe I got bored, forgot to bring my book, or really interested in a new one. So while reading The Next Always (see below) I have been rereading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling. What can I say? I'm addicted to the magical world that the series takes me to. It's especially great when I'm sick and tired of the world I'm in now.
I was also reading a book about John F. Kennedy, and nothing against him, but it was really boring. I was more interested in the years of his presidency than the three years before. However, perhaps it's my fault, and I need to pick a book with a different time period next time.
At the moment, I am reading Nora Robert's recent novel The Next Always.
The historic hotel in Boonsboro has endured war and peace, the changing of hands, and even rumored hauntings. Now it's getting a major face-lift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect in the family, Beckett's social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. But there's another project he's got his eye on: the girl he's been wanting to kiss since he was sixteen.
After losing her husband and returning to her hometown, Clare Brewster soon settles into her life as the mother of three young sons while running the town's bookstore. Though busy and with little time for romance, Clare is drawn across the street by Beckett's transformation of the old inn, wanting to take a closer look...at both the building and the man behind it.
With the grand opening inching closer, Beckett is happy to give Clare a private tour-one room at a time, in between blueprint meetings and kindergarten pickups. It's no first date, but these stolen moments are the beginning of something that could arouse the secret yearning that resides in Clare's independent heart- and open the door to the extraordinary adventure of what comes next...
I actually got this book for Christmas, and I am finally getting around to reading it. I think my favorite thing of the book so far is the worn look of the pages which gives it almost a personal feeling. I have an idea that this will be similar to Robert's series The Bride Quartet. We shall see!
